Busyness without clarity is glorified chaos.
👋 Welcome back to Content to Commas, your weekly playbook for creator-entrepreneurs who want to monetize their brand, build authority, and grow intentionally via content.
Creativity and your calendar are more connected than you think.
A month ago, I walked away from a $198K salary and gained 40 hours a week back. That kind of freedom sounds incredible … until you realize the pressure that comes with it.
No Slack pings. No one-on-ones. Just a blank calendar staring at me.
So I built a system.
It’s not a 5 a.m. routine. It’s a way to design my days around what actually matters: my health, my business, and my relationships.
This week, I’m sharing the framework I designed … a 4 Quarter System that keeps me productive, balanced, and consistent.
In this Issue:
A Creatorpreneur’s Calendar Playbook
The 4 Quarter Framework for building your business
Let’s get to work.
— Brandon Smithwrick
Most small business owners start with personal accounts for everything — banking, subscriptions, even rides.
It works… until tax season, reimbursements, and reporting become a nightmare.
Here’s why I recommend making the switch:
Smarter management: billing, reporting, and policies in one place
Seamless integrations: Brex, Ramp, Concur, Expensify
Flexibility: rides for clients, contractors, or your team; meals managed from the same platform
If you’ve been scaling your business on personal tools, now’s the time to switch to systems that match your ambition.
👉 Sign up, add a card, and get up to 10% off your first business rides.
*For a limited time, organizations can get up to 10% off business rides when they sign up for Uber for Business. The discount is only available for new corporate accounts signed up between 7/10/2025 & 10/8/2025, receiving up to 10% off on rides taken in the U.S. (max $10 off per trip; 5 rides per user) for authorized users. Valid only for new Uber for Business clients in the U.S. Promotion valid until 10/8/2025. Subject to change or cancellation at anytime. Other terms and conditions apply.
📆 Your Calendar Needs a Strategy
Content isn’t just about what you post. It’s about carving out the space to create, refine, and distribute without drowning in admin.
Here’s how my mind sees it…
Peak hours = profit hours. If you waste them on low priority or low energy tasks, your most profitable ideas never get built.
No boundaries = no outcome. Without clear blocks, your calendar actually doesn’t work in your favor.
Structure = scale. The same way you batch posts or repurpose content, you can batch time to multiply your output.
Think of your calendar as a funnel: top of funnel (ideas) → mid funnel (creation) → bottom funnel (distribution).

The 4 Quarter Framework
This method is less about timeboxing and more like assigning a clear role to each quarter of your day so you never wonder “how should I structure my time?”
If you want to join me, here’s how:
Create a separate Google Calendar called “Ideal Week”.
Map your day into four quarters that fit your life and business.
Then schedule all your work, tasks, and meetings inside the right bucket.
This way, you’ll always see the guardrails, but you’ll always stay in control.
And if you try it, tag me on social.

Quarter 1 → Fuel
How you start the day, determines the day.
This quarter is about priming your body and mind so you don’t sabotage yourself.
Put here:
Gym or movement.
Journaling, prayer, reflection.
Morning rituals that sharpen and center you.
I call mine “Foundation & Vitality”, because this builds the foundation for my long-term success.
My one hard rule during this quarter is no meetings before 10 AM.
Tools I Love: I use Ladder to plan workouts, AG1 or Huel to start my morning, and a Notion Journal to set the tone.
Quarter 2 → Time to Lock In
This is where you win or lose.
Your peak focus hours are where your best work belongs.
Put here:
Writing (posts, newsletters, scripts).
Strategy (offers, decks, proposals).
Creative projects that only you can do.
If you can, zero meetings are allowed during this time.
If you have to wear multiple hats during the day, this hat should be your favorite — your zone of genius.
The work that only YOU can get done right.
Things That Help: Noise-canceling headphones (seriously), Content OS to manage my workflow, and Prompt Cowboy when I need AI to tighten drafts fast.
Quarter 3 → Admin
By afternoon, your energy dips which makes it the perfect slot for logistical tasks that keep the lights on.
Put here:
Admin: invoices, contracts, email replies.
Meetings or calls.
Low-stakes tasks that don’t drain creativity.
Quarter 4 → Be Human
The hardest part of entrepreneurship isn’t starting a business; it’s being present while you run one.
Put here:
Dinner with family or friends.
Walks, recharge activities, conversations without screens.
Activities that remind you why you’re building in the first place.
Presence here = sharper energy tomorrow.
🧲 Steal My Framework…
here’s how you can adapt this to fit your life:
Draw a line. Pick one non-negotiable (mine: no meetings before 10AM).
Assign your quarters. Decide what each block of your day is for based on your energy.
Stack habits. Place the right activities in the right quarters (deep work in peak hours, admin in low energy hours).
Break the rules when life happens.

🧠 Final Words
A calendar is more than a tool, it is a reflection of your strategy for life.
The 4 Quarter Framework is about building discipline into time itself, so you can batch content when it matters, do the deep work that moves your business forward, and still protect the space to live well.
It is designed to make you a sharper founder, a more consistent creator, and a more present person.
The true downfall isn’t lack of time, it’s the illusion of busyness.
Busyness without clarity is glorified chaos, and structure is what transforms chaos into progress you can actually sustain.
