They did it. Meta just launched Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus, and WhatsApp Plus globally. And behind that, they're quietly building something bigger called Meta Verified Plus.

I know people might roll their eyes, and I feel the same way, but I'm not letting that stop me from thinking strategically.

But let’s workshop it live…

If Instagram is for vibes, this might stay optional for a while. If Instagram is where you close, you see it as storefront, or your brand as a business, the math changes fast.

Meta has been watching what Substack, X Premium, and LinkedIn Premium built.

Paid tiers that layer access, visibility, and upgraded features.

The question isn't whether to be annoyed about it.

The question is does paying change your ROI on Instagram?

The features themselves aren't the story, how you use them are.

Let me walk you through every tier with the actual dollar math, and then I'll tell you who should buy what.

📚 Meta’s New Creator Plans

The best time to know your Instagram ROI is before the platform decides to charge you for it.

Four tiers. Here's what you're actually getting…

Tier 1: Standard ($14.99/month | $179.88/year)

“Meta Verified” got rebranded.

Verified badge. Search optimization. Upgraded profile links. Exclusive stickers. Impersonation protection. Advanced support.

This is the "I'm a real account" tier. You're paying for credibility signals and an extra layer of protection. Who useful this is with AI customer services? questionable.

Who it's for:

  • Individual creators who have been impersonated before or worry about it.

  • Anyone whose name is their brand.

If Instagram isn't a main source of income for you, save your money. That's the only way to get back the $180.

Tier 2: Plus ($49.99/mo | $599.88/yr)

now we’re cooking…

Everything in Standard, plus: featured profile, 48-hour Instagram Stories, two reel links per month.

  • The featured profile is a discovery play. We don't know exactly how it works yet, and I'd watch the data over the next 60 days before making decisions based on it.

  • The 48 hour Stories are underrated. Keeping content visible longer for an audience that doesn't check every day is genuinely useful.

  • Two reel links per month, but if you're driving people to a product, an affiliate link, or a landing page via reels, even two strategic placements have value. (just choose them wisely)

Who it's for:

  • Creators or Brands driving traffic, using affiliate programs, or product launches

At $600 a year, it's a reasonable test for 90 days if Instagram is already part of your active revenue strategy.

Tier 3: Premium ($149.99/mo | $1,799.88/year)

Now this is a commitment.

Four reel links per month instead of two, custom chat themes, + everything else from Plus.

This one is odd to me. The jump from Plus to Premium is steep. You're paying an extra $100 a month for two additional reel links and some aesthetic features.

The math only works if you're consistently converting via reels and your current two links are fully maxed out.

🤔 … I believe Instagram will likely start limiting Manychat and instead focus on using their own tools to drive traffic.

Who it's for:

  • Established brands running consistent reel based campaigns.

  • Social teams with some budget who need to legitimize organic social to their organization.

At $1,800 a year, this requires a real ROI conversation.

What does one additional reel link convert to in revenue for your business? If you can answer that with data, you'll know whether this tier makes sense.

Tier 4: Max ($499.99/mo | $5,999.98/yr)

This is the enterprise play.

Six reel links per month, personalized content strategy advice from Meta, + everything else.

Will the “content strategy advice” be generic? maybe. Meta's definition of "personalized" and yours might not match.

honestly … Claude could probably do this for you better.

Who it's for:

  • Established brands that treat Instagram as a storefront.

  • Enterprise accounts that have a dedicated social media team making decisions about this.

  • Any business where six strategic reel links per month, combined with featured profile and 48-hour Stories, directly support a measurable revenue cycle.

Who it's not for:

  • creators doing less than 6-figures.

  • people still figuring out their content strategy.

  • if $500 a month would create financial stress.

If Instagram is where your audience decides whether to trust you before they buy from you, the Max tier is a business decision, not a social add-on.

My honest take.

Before you upgrade your tier, upgrade your strategy.

  • Improve the quality and quantity of your stories.

  • Use ManyChat to boost engagement and traffic.

  • Focus on building your brand before worrying too much about impersonation protection.

  • I understand Instagram's role in your business and the purpose of your posts.

60% of brands and businesses might need to buy one of these & 30% of creators and entrepreneurs should consider this … but that’s it.

There are many downsides to this, which we'll see in the coming months and years, but that's another issue.
